Softball Recap: Atlanta Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Atlanta put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They never let the Mackinaw City Comets get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by 11 runs or more this season.

Ella Switalski made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

In other batting news, Olivia McSwain and Janna Larsen did most of the damage at the plate: McSwain got on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs, while Larsen went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave McSwain a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aleah Englehart, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Atlanta was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .429 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Atlanta's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mackinaw City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Atlanta will head out to square off against Alanson at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Huskies are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Mackinaw City, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Harbor Light Christian at 6:00 p.m.
