Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valley View). They claimed a resounding 66-34 win over the West Scranton Invaders. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Invaders are ranked 341st), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Valley View pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26 points. As for West Scranton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Valley View and Carbondale Area will round out the year against one another at at 6:30 p.m. on December 27th. Valley View is facing Carbondale Area at the right time seeing as Carbondale Area is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for West Scranton, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Wallenpaupack Area at 7:15 p.m. on January 2, 2025.
