Basketball Recap: Makenna Ellis Key Part of a Team Effort in Lions Win

Augusta Christian won the last time they faced Aquinas and things went their way on Saturday too. The Augusta Christian Lions took down the Aquinas Fightin' Irish 52-34. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Fightin' Irish are ranked 423rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Augusta Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Makenna Ellis led the charge by putting up 13 points. Another player making a difference was Taylor Booker, who posted 13 points.

The victory got Augusta Christian back to even at 13-13. As for Aquinas, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-15.

Augusta Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 37-32 win against Ben Lippen on the 4th. Aquinas has also already played their next contest, a 51-44 loss against Academy of Richmond County on the 4th.
