Basketball Recap: Friday's Win Is Northern Guilford's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Northern Guilford lost to Grimsley back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Northern Guilford Nighthawks came out on top against the Grimsley Whirlies by a score of 57-46. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Nighthawks.

Several Whirlies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Faizon Brandon, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Catoe, who posted nine points.

Northern Guilford has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Grimsley, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northern Guilford will host Page at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northern Guilford knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Page likes a good challenge. As for Grimsley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Southwest Guilford at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwest Guilford will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Grimsley surely won't give up without a fight.
