Baseball Recap: Flatirons Academy Find Success

Flatirons Academy owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Bishop Machebeuf Buffaloes. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bison.

Caleb Doughty made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

Doughty wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Noah Evans, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Flatirons Academy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Machebeuf struck out eight times.

Flatirons Academy's win bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Bishop Machebeuf, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Flatirons Academy will face off against Otis at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Bishop Machebeuf, they will head out to challenge Front Range Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
