Basketball Recap: Iberia Sets Scoring Season-High Against Helias

Iberia's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They took down the Helias Crusaders 71-55. The Rangers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Iberia got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaylyn Piggott out in front who went 8 for 15 on her way to 22 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Those 22 points gave Piggott a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexa Rowden, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

Iberia smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Iberia's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Helias, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Iberia will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Laquey at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025. Helias will also get a bit of a break before their next match: they'll face off against Smith-Cotton at 5:30 p.m. on January 9, 2025.
