Baseball Recap: Albany Has No Trouble Against Mt. Eden

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Albany). They blew past the Mt. Eden Monarchs 8-2 on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Albany got a great performance from Max Eddy as he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Willem Loveless, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mikey Richards, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Albany was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

The victory got Albany back to even at 2-2. As for Mt. Eden, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Albany will face off against Archie Williams at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Mt. Eden, they will square off against Oakland Tech at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Oakland Tech is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
