Baseball Game Preview: Arlington Catholic Cougars vs. St. Mary's Spartans

Arlington Catholic hasn't had much luck against St. Mary recently, but that could start to change on Sunday. The Cougars will take on the Spartans at 2:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Arlington Catholic barely beat Archbishop Williams the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars blew past the Bishops 8-2 on Wednesday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Bishops recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Mary's). They put the hurt on Holliston with a sharp 12-1 victory on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

St. Mary's pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Arlington Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.

Arlington Catholic came up short against St. Mary's in their previous meeting back in April, falling 5-2. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
