They managed a 56-51 victory over Arizona Cultural Academy on Monday. The win was all the more spectacular given James Madison Preparatory School's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 240th, while Arizona Cultural Academy is ranked 96th).
When it comes to explaining why Arizona Cultural Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mahdy Abdeljaber. Despite the final result, he scored 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Abdeljaber has scored all season. Hasnain Qazi was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
James Madison Preparatory School is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 3-8 record this season. As for Arizona Cultural Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-3.
James Madison Preparatory School will head out on the road to take on Tri-City Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Arizona Cultural Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against New Way Learning Academy at 4:15 p.m. on January 23rd. New Way Learning Academy has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 3-0 during that stretch of close contests.
