Softball Recap: Haven Makes It Nine in a Row at Home

Haven won the last time they faced Larned and things went their way on Thursday too. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Indians. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won nine matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Avery Brawner made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Brawner was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Morgan O'Neal, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Faidley, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.

Haven was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .577. They are 9-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Haven's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Larned, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Haven didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-1 victory against Hoisington on the 22nd. As for Larned, they have also already played their next match, a 5-1 win against Hillsboro on the 22nd.
