Baseball Game Preview: Gibson Southern Titans vs. South Spencer Rebels

The Gibson Southern Titans will face off against the South Spencer Rebels at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

On Monday, Gibson Southern didn't have quite enough to beat Evansville North and fell 3-2. The Titans have struggled against the Huskies recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Cam Truxal was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Gibson Southern saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zach Foster, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Grant Stinson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, South Spencer unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Monday. They lost 9-0 to Castle. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Rebels were not able to get on the board.

South Spencer's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Gibson Southern, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.

Gibson Southern was able to grind out a solid win over South Spencer in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 9-6. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rebels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
