Softball Game Preview: Victoria East Titans vs. Hendrickson Hawks

The Victoria East Titans will take on the Hendrickson Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Victoria East is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Spring Woods get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Titans.

Meanwhile, Hendrickson hadn't done well against Bastrop recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Hawks put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 8-0 victory. The game was the first time the Hawks have beaten the Bears on their field since March 8, 2022.

Kara Luongo made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Payton Shroyer, who went 4-for-5 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Cadence Garcia, who went 1-for-5 with two runs and one double.

Hendrickson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bastrop only managed three hits.

Hendrickson's record now sits at 15-11-1. As for Victoria East, the win got them back to even at 15-15.
