Six Rivers recap Oct. 9, 2012

Potosi extended the longest winning streak in Six Rivers this week by beating River Ridge, 63-7. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.

Belmont and Shullsburg played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Belmont eventually emerging with a 22-21 victory.

Potosi's dynamic duo of Tim Fritz and Hunter Leibfried proved tough for the Timberwolves to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Fritz threw for 119 yards and four touchdowns and Leibfried had 37 yards receiving. Mitchell Langkamp helped Potosi's passing attack out by catching three balls for 35 yards.

Caleb Yager was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 235 yards on 21 carries as Highland topped River Ridge. Blake Bomkamp also contributed to the rushing game with 87 yards on the ground.

5-foot-9 quarterback Fritz of the Chieftains is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1034. He has also thrown 15 touchdowns. On the ground, the Cardinals' Yager has rushed for 1015 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Kyle Walters. The Black Hawk star has 16 catches for 338 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Potosi takes on Highland. The Chieftains are currently in first, while the Cardinals are in third.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Potosi takes on Highland. The Chieftains have allowed 62 points this season, while the Cardinals have given up 71. Potosi allowed 7 points last week as it beat Wade Winkers' team.

The Braves made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,660 from 10,212. The advance stemmed from a 22-21 victory over the Miners last week.
