Softball Game Preview: Central Rockets vs. Huntley Red Raiders

Central hasn't had much luck against Huntley recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Rockets will square off against the Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. The last three games Central has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Monday just wasn't the day for Central's offense. They fell just short of Prairie Ridge by a score of 1-0 on Monday.

Isabella Reed was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Central saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kelsey Covey, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Huntley made easy work of Cary-Grove on Monday and carried off a 13-3 victory. The Red Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by six runs or more this season.

Gretchen Huber looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Madison Rozanski was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Isabella Boskey was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Huntley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 13-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win made it two in a row for Huntley and bumps their season record up to 20-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-17.

Central suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to Huntley in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Rockets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
