Baseball Recap: Alhambra Now 11-2 over Last 13 Games

While Alhambra put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for North. The Lions blew past the Mustangs 17-0. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Nicolas Reyes was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Omar Marrufo, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Omar Guzman was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Alhambra always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North only posted an OBP of .133.

Alhambra has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for North, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.

Alhambra and North could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings. The Lions will face off against Millennium at 6:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (75 vs. 17). Meanwhile, North (ranked 249th) will meet McClintock (ranked 110th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
