Basketball Recap: Paulding County Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Paulding County won the last time they faced Osborne and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Paulding County Patriots snuck past the Osborne Cardinals with a 59-53 victory. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while the Cardinals are ranked 332nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jerron Wilson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9 for 22 en route to 24 points along with five assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Keen-Yean James, who posted 13 points and eight rebounds.

Paulding County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 15 consecutive matches.

Despite the defeat, Osborne had strong showings from Deon Dixon, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 14 points and seven boards, and Aiden Aponte, who went 5 for 10 en route to 13 points and six rebounds. Those seven boards gave Dixon a new career-high. Kristian Stewart was another key player, putting up six points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Paulding County's record is now 12-8. As for Osborne, their loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-16.

Paulding County has already played their next game, a 55-45 defeat against Pebblebrook on the 24th. As for Osborne, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 64-48 loss against South Cobb on the 24th.
