Softball Recap: North Hollywood Huskies vs. Canoga Park Hunters
North Hollywood's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Canoga Park Hunters. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by ten runs or more this season.
Kaiya Mendoza and Ellison Hinnen made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Mendoza didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Hinnen tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up a single earned run in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Mendoza went 2-for-3 with two runs, while Hinnen went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, North Hollywood got a big performance out of Ayla Soto, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. Liliana Mendoza also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
