Softball Recap: North Hollywood Has No Trouble Against Canoga Park

North Hollywood's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Canoga Park Hunters. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by ten runs or more this season.

Kaiya Mendoza and Ellison Hinnen made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Mendoza didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Hinnen tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up a single earned run in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Mendoza went 2-for-3 with two runs, while Hinnen went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, North Hollywood got a big performance out of Ayla Soto, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. Liliana Mendoza also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

North Hollywood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

North Hollywood's record is now 8-4. As for Canoga Park, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Coincidentally, North Hollywood and Canoga Park will both be playing Grant the next time they take the field. The Hunters will host the Lancers at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Huskies will head out to face them at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
