Surry Central is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Mount Airy. Surry Central was the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Mount Airy on Wednesday. The game was the first time the Golden Eagles have beaten the Granite Bears on their field since April 25, 2018.

Jackson Wilmoth made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
