League recap: Damien rises, Claremont falls in league standings

Sierra league recap: 5/14/12

Damien made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from fourth to second place in the league thanks to a 2-0 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, Claremont fell hardest in the standings, dropping from second all the way to fourth place after going 0-2 in the past week. South Hills (17-7, 11-4) is the No. 1 team in the league.

The league's top pitcher this week was Mac Lupton. He won zero games and struck out four batters.

The Wolfpack's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 17 hits and five walks to lead the league in both categories. On the season, Claremont has allowed just 161 hits, while striking out 174 batters. Kenny Chapman leads Claremont with 82 strikeouts in 63 innings.

Ayala's Erik Cha led the league in strikeouts this week with 11. With 26 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks fifth in the league.
