Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hernando). They put the hurt on the Weeki Wachee Hornets with a sharp 70-45 win on Tuesday. With the Leopards ahead 53-23 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Hernando's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daniel Merizalde led the charge by going 9 for 15 on his way to 20 points and eight assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Brown, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 14 points in addition to five boards and three blocks.

Hernando smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games.

Hernando's record is now 7-2. As for Weeki Wachee, they dropped their record down to 0-10 with the loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Hernando won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Dunnellon at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Dunnellon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season. Weeki Wachee will take on Pasco in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
