Recap: Lewis County Minutemen vs. Winfield Generals
On Saturday, Lewis County was able to grind out a solid victory over Winfield, taking the game 51-39. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Lewis County has scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lewis County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ella Pinkney, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Pinkney also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Pinkney, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Lewis County's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Winfield, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lewis County will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Nicholas County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Winfield, Winfield and Ripley will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in West Virginia (Ripley is ranked 21st, while Winfield is ranked 32nd).
