Basketball Recap: Mohonasen Takes a Loss

Mohonasen lost against La Salle Institute back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Mohonasen Warriors lost 79-56 to the La Salle Institute Cadets. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 430th, while the Cadets are ranked 66th).

Mohonasen has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for La Salle Institute, they pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mohonasen will square off against Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for La Salle Institute, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Cohoes at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. La Salle Institute knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Cohoes likes a good challenge.
