Recap: Hidalgo Pirates vs. Valley View Tigers
The third road matchup was the charm for the Hidalgo Pirates, as they earned their first road win of the season. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 49-46 win over Valley View on Monday. That's another feather in the cap for Hidalgo, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Hidalgo found their leader in underclassman Javier Martinez, who scored 20 points along with 7 steals. Martinez hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Rafael Galvan was another key contributor, scoring 4 points.
Hidalgo's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Valley View, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Hidalgo will be playing at home against Dekaney at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Valley View, they will head out on the road to face off against Donna at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
