Basketball Recap: Morton/White Pass Takes a Loss

Morton/White Pass was the 65-22 winner over Ocosta when they last played one another back in February of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Morton/White Pass Timberwolves fell to the Ocosta Wildcats 64-59. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (58), the Timberwolves still had to take the loss.

Ocosta's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kayden Turner led the charge by going 8 of 17 on his way to 21 points. That's the most points Turner has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Sonny Beard, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 boards.

Morton/White Pass has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Ocosta, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morton/White Pass will square off against Toledo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Morton/White Pass has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Ocosta, they will take on Willapa Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Ocosta has won four straight at home, while Willapa Valley won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
