Football Recap: River Valley Panthers vs. West Shamokin Wolves

If West Shamokin wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played River Valley, they should've done a better job of containing Gavin Burkhart. The River Valley Panthers breezed by the West Shamokin Wolves to the tune of 49-21 on Friday thanks in part to Burkhart, who rushed for 218 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 103.3 rushing yards per game.

The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Woodring, who rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 76-yard run.

River Valley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 473 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

When it comes to explaining why West Shamokin lost, don't look at Kaleb Kimmel. Despite the final result, he rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries.
