Baseball Recap: Mount Tahoma T-Birds vs. Silas Rams
Mount Tahoma had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 3-12 to make it four. They came up short against the Silas Rams, falling 17-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 on Tuesday.
Mount Tahoma saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Akoni Talley, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
As for Silas, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-6. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Silas' side, Landon Smith was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Smith was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Silas let Max Yoder and Carter Lystra run wild. Yoder went 2-for-4 with five RBI, while Lystra got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those five RBI gave Yoder a new career-high. Urijah Johnson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Tahoma will challenge River Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.12 runs per game on average), something the T-Birds will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Silas, they will take on Peninsula at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
