Softball Recap: Hawkins Takes a Loss

Hawkins had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-7 to make it four. They came up short against the Jordan Bulldogs, falling 24-14. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 10, 2023, but that streak is no more.

As for Jordan, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-5. Considering they have won four contests by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Jordan's part, they got a massive performance out of Nicole Buenrostro, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with seven stolen bases, five runs, and two RBI. Those five runs gave Buenrostro a new career-high. Litci Reyes was another key player, getting on base in all six of her plate appearances with nine stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Hawkins will take on rival George Washington Prep at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Jordan is set to face off against their familiar foe Dymally at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
