Basketball Recap: Maplewood Comes Up Short

On Saturday, the Maplewood Panthers had to suffer through a 76-40 loss at the hands of the Greenwood Gators. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 247th in Tennessee, while the Gators are ranked 46th in Kentucky).

Greenwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Landon Meador, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 14 points and six boards. Those 14 points gave Meador a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Garrett Hatcher, who went 5 for 9 en route to 13 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Maplewood and nudges their season record down to 9-7. As for Greenwood, their record now sits at 13-5.

Maplewood has already played their next match (against Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Greenwood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 58-48 defeat against Marian Catholic on the 20th.
