Recap: Westview vs. Gretna East Griffins

On Friday, Westview strolled past Gretna East with points to spare, taking the game 49-31. Westview pushed the score to 36-15 by the end of the third, a deficit Gretna East cut but never quite recovered from.

Tayvin Murphy continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kobe Mapp, who scored seven points along with two steals.

Westview pushed their record up to 8-6 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Gretna East, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Westview won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lincoln Southeast at 5:15 p.m. on January 27th. Lincoln Southeast is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 65.4 points per game. As for Gretna East, they will be playing at home against Waverly at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
