Basketball Recap: Freeman Comes Up Short

Freeman lost a heartbreaker to Deep Run when they met back in December of 2023, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. The Freeman Mavericks fell to the Deep Run Wildcats 64-60. The Mavericks were probably out for revenge after losing 55-53 to them when the teams met back in January, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Leading Deep Run to victory were Isaiah Stanley and Chris Suber. Stanley went 7 of 10 en route to 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Suber dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten assists. Suber is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Quentin Morgan was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Freeman now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Deep Run, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Freeman will venture away from home to square off against Maggie Walker at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Deep Run, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Deep Run Wildcats face off against the Hermitage Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
