Softball Recap: Nardin Academy Gators vs. Nichols Vikings
Nardin Academy had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Nichols Vikings on Saturday as the Nardin Academy Gators made off with an 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for Nardin Academy, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Jayden Szkatulski made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and only two hits over five innings pitched. Szkatulski was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Kara Krupski was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Emily Gorman, who went 2-for-3 with a triple, a run, and an RBI.
The victory (which was Nardin Academy's eighth in a row) raised their record to 16-2. As for Nichols, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
