Volleyball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Torrey Pines' Tenth in Last 11 Outings

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Torrey Pines had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Classical Academy Caimans. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Falcons also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Torrey Pines had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-16, 25-13, 25-17.

Declan Flanagan paced Torrey Pines' offense, picking up 17 kills. Flanagan got some help from Zach Lau and his 25 assists. Benjamin Yung and Ben Soudak kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Torrey Pines is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 31-7 record this season. As for Classical Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 23-12.

Torrey Pines and Classical Academy are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Falcons will challenge Canyon Crest Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Ravens will roll in looking for their 40th straight win, something Torrey Pines surely won't give up without a fight. As for Classical Academy, they will square off against Cathedral Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
