Baseball Recap: Cotulla Victorious

Cotulla took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Natalia, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Cotulla came out on top in a nail-biter against Natalia on Tuesday, sneaking past 4-3. This was payback for the Cowboys, who suffered an 8-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Frank Torres spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Eric Aldaco was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Davyn Deltoro also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Cotulla's victory bumped their record up to 2-7-1. As for Natalia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-11.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Cotulla is set to take on their familiar foe Crystal City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Natalia will challenge rival Dilley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
