The Everett Warriors will face off against the Bedford Bisons at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Everett is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
Everett proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Meyersdale 4-3.
Everett saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Sherwood, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Bedford made easy work of Greater Johnstown on Wednesday and carried off a 14-4 victory.
Gaston Watkins made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Owen Tedrow was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Owen Taylor, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Bedford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greater Johnstown only managed five hits.
Bedford is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Everett, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-6.
