Recap: Aurora Central Trojans vs. Thornton Trojans

The Aurora Central Trojans pushed their score all the way to 65 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 72-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of Thornton. Aurora Central was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Thornton apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played last Tuesday.

Aurora Central lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Charles Laurendine II, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Bishop Dankyi, who scored 13 points along with two steals and two blocks.

Clayton Jones continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Thornton, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 11 rebounds. Jones hasn't dropped below 23 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrian Armendariz, who scored 21 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Aurora Central and nudges their season record down to 11-11. As for Thornton, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-10.

Aurora Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Thornton's road trip will continue as they head out to face Gateway at 6:30 p.m. on February 14th. Gateway knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matchups -- so hopefully Thornton likes a good challenge.
