Softball Recap: Middlesex's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Middlesex had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the West Point Pointers a 7-0 shutout. The Chargers' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three games.

Magen Daniels was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 19 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season.

Daniels wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Courtney Jessie, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Middlesex's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for West Point, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 10-6 record.

Looking ahead, Middlesex will venture away from home to face off against Rappahannock at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Raiders will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Chargers surely won't give up without a fight. As for West Point, they will take on Colonial Beach at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
