Football Recap: Gilmer Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Gilmer was the 35-20 winner over Heritage when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Bobcats lost to the Generals on the road by a 29-14 margin on Friday. The matchup marked the Bobcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Brayden Slaughter continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Heritage, rushing for 185 yards and two scores while picking up 11.6 yards per carry. Those 185 rushing yards gave Slaughter a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caden Hight, who threw for 222 yards and one touchdown.

Gilmer has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for Heritage, they pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Coincidentally, Gilmer and Heritage will both be playing LaFayette the next time they take the field. The Bobcats will host the Ramblers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Generals will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on the 17th.
