Softball Game Preview: Quincy Trojans vs. East Nicolaus Spartans

The Quincy Trojans will face off against the East Nicolaus Spartans at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Quincy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They blew past Portola 14-4. Winning may never get old, but the Trojans sure are getting used to it with their tenth in a row.

Jemma Trueblood made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Gay, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Morganne Olhiser, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Quincy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Portola only posted a batting average of .211.

Meanwhile, East Nicolaus got themselves on the board against Mt. Shasta on Tuesday, but Mt. Shasta never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Bears. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

East Nicolaus' victory bumped their record up to 19-6. As for Quincy, their win bumped their record up to 22-4.

Quincy suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to East Nicolaus when the teams last played back in May of 2019. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
