Volleyball Recap: Utica Takes a Loss

Utica was the 2-0 winner over Port Huron Northern when they last played one another back in September of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Chieftains fell 2-0 to the Huskies on Saturday.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Port Huron Northern scored at least 17 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-21.

Ella Harris paced Utica's offense, picking up three kills. Harris got some help from Rachel Rettell and her nine assists. Rettell was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Utica's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6-1. As for Port Huron Northern, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Utica has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Brown City on the 23rd. As for Port Huron Northern, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 win against Berkley on the 23rd.
