Melrose faced Elida in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Buffaloes won by a set and slipped past the Tigers 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Buffaloes in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won six in a row.

Melrose took Elida into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 25-19, 25-17, 24-26, 15-12.

Braylan Morgan paced Melrose's offense, picking up 23 kills. Morgan got some help from Kailey Jackson and her 48 assists. Morgan was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Melrose's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Elida, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 15-1.

Looking ahead, Melrose will take on Dora at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Buffaloes are facing the Coyotes at the right time seeing as the Coyotes are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Elida, they will head out to face off against Gateway Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
