Softball Recap: Northampton Comes Up Short

Northampton extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 3-10 in the process. They came up short against the Chincoteague Ponies, falling 15-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Yellowjackets of the 17-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

Northampton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Dinwiddie, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

As for Chincoteague, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7. Considering they have won eight matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Chincoteague's side, the team relied heavily on Ginny Sawyer, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Faith Stadler was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs.

Northampton didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-4 defeat against Nandua on the 8th. As for Chincoteague, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 11-5 loss against Arcadia on the 8th.
