Baseball Recap: Rancho Christian Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

Rancho Christian lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Rancho Verde, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's game. The Eagles blew past the Mustangs 13-5 on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Cooper Rivera was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cylis Proffitt, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Rancho Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive contests.

Rancho Christian's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.9 runs. As for Rancho Verde, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-10 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rancho Christian will head out to face off against Hillcrest at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Rancho Verde, they will venture away from home to take on Orange Vista at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
