It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Rocori ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the St. Thomas Academy Cadets 9-7. Winning may never get old, but the Spartans sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Reece Kalla looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jake Stalboerger was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Caleb Maddox was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Rocori pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for St. Thomas Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rocori will venture away from home to square off against Becker at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Thomas Academy, they will head out to take on Hill-Murray at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
