Softball Game Preview: Ravenna Ravens vs. Woodridge Bulldogs

The Ravenna Ravens will square off against the Woodridge Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Woodridge took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Ravenna, who comes in off a win.

Ravenna will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Norton, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Ravens sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Panthers on Monday. The win was some much needed relief for the Ravens as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Whitney Holmes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Savanna McKeown was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Mallory Sterba, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Woodridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 8-0 to Field, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Ravenna's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Woodridge, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

Ravenna beat Woodridge 6-2 in their previous matchup on April 3rd. Will the Ravens repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
