Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Madera). They put the hurt on the Justin Garza Guardians with a sharp 16-2 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Coyotes in their matchups with the Guardians: they've now won five in a row.

Viviana Nombrano was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sadie Gonzalez, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Savana Cortez, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Madera always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Justin Garza only posted an OBP of .263.

Madera's record is now 9-4. As for Justin Garza, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-3 record this season.

Madera will be playing in front of their home fans against Centennial at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Justin Garza, they are taking a road trip to take on Sanger at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Guardians 3.5, the Apaches 1.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
