Football Game Preview: Orange Grove Bulldogs vs. Raymondville Bearkats

Two dominant backs in Daniel Bahn and Traeshaun Washington are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Orange Grove Bulldogs will face off against the Raymondville Bearkats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Orange Grove blew London out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday London got their revenge. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 38-35. While the Bulldogs had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Pirates 7-3.

Orange Grove's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Linden Rodriguez, who threw for 185 yards and one touchdown, and Braylon Arias, who rushed for 34 yards and a pair of TDs.

Orange Grove didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Orlando Carrillo and Diego Serna.

Meanwhile, Raymondville strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They claimed a resounding 52-16 win over Santa Gertrudis Academy. With the Bearkats ahead 32-8 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Orange Grove's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-2. As for Raymondville, their victory bumped their record up to 10-0.

Everything came up roses for Orange Grove against Raymondville when the teams last played back in November of 2023, as the team secured a 44-15 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
