McCormick won the last time they faced Thornwell and things went their way on Monday too. The McCormick Chiefs really took it to the Thornwell Saints for the full four quarters, racking up an 81-43 win. The Chiefs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 26 points or more this season.

Leading McCormick to victory were Terrence Cartledge and Daruis Houston. Cartledge dropped a double-double with 23 points and 15 rebounds, while Houston almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine assists. What's more, Cartledge also posted a 85% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Demontae Wideman was another key player, going 5 of 10 to rack up 14 points.

McCormick smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive games.

McCormick has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 15-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points over those games. As for Thornwell, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McCormick will host GREEN Upstate at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Thornwell, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Whitmire at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Whitmire has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
