Basketball Recap: Andover Skates Past Arkansas City with Ease

A well-balanced attack led Andover over Arkansas City in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Andover Trojans blew the Arkansas City Bulldogs out of the water with an 80-46 final score. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-17.

Andover had a senior duo take command as Owen Allman went 7 of 12 on his way to 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals and Joshua Kim went 8 for 10 en route to 18 points and five assists. Allman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Walker McClellan, who posted 11 points and seven boards.

Andover smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

Andover's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for Arkansas City, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Andover will face off against Wamego on Thursday. Wamego has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Arkansas City, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Newton on January 28th.
