Valley Central posted their closest victory since January 4th on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 51-48 win over the Monroe-Woodbury Crusaders. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 59-46 victory the Crusaders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Monroe-Woodbury still got an impressive performance from Charlie Theokas, who en route to 15 points. The dominant performance gave Theokas a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamir Johnson, who posted 11 points.

Valley Central is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points over those games. Monroe-Woodbury's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-8.

Valley Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 50-43 defeat against Warwick on the 18th. As for Monroe-Woodbury, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-51 loss against Newburgh Free Academy on the 20th.
