Basketball Recap: Bellaire Takes a Loss

Bellaire entered their game against East Jordan on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Bellaire Eagles were outmatched by the East Jordan Red Devils and fell 69-37. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Red Devils earlier this season, when they won 59-57.

Korbyn Russell was his usual excellent self, going 8 for 13 from beyond the arc on his way to 34 points and eight boards for East Jordan. With that strong performance, Russell is now averaging an impressive 15.7 points per game. William Webb was another key player, putting up 12 points and six assists.

Bellaire's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-2. As for East Jordan, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Bellaire and East Jordan should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. Bellaire (ranked 174th) will meet Inland Lakes (ranked 524th) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bellaire will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak alive. Similarly, East Jordan will face off against Central Lake at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday up 358 places (312 vs. 670).
